One theme I have recently developed is a series which I call the Dreamtime Series. The Dream time theme is a whimsical fantasy that included faces emerging out of trees as well as miniature beings scaling dramatic vertical landscapes of copper and wood.  This work expresses themes from the enigmatic images of dreams as well as the subconscious fears and struggles that represent our vulnerability to forces beyond our control.

 In these works, I experiment with an expressive blending of a variety of woods such as ash, maple, red cedar, cherry, walnut and mahogany as well as many forms sculpted in bronze and shaped out of thin sheets of copper and brass.  The woods I have selected are generally large weathered planks that have been shaped naturally by unusual knotting of the wood and borrowing insects as well as the thoughtfully wielded chisel. Many sheets and ribbons of copper have been bent and formed to weave in and out of the various crack, crevices and carved openings to reveal mysterious abstract details or to reveal human forms such as a face or hand.  

On other vertical landscapes, I have created delightful dramas between two or three miniature bronze figures engaged in playful acts such as diving and hang gliding or struggles with gargantuan insects in battles and efforts of escape or rescue. The blending of human, non-human and organic forms is also harmonized by a blending of hues ranging from the warm earth colors of the wood , the warm shimmering reds and gold of the copper and brass as well as a lovely range of cool colors  from the soft turquoise and moss green patinas  of the weathered copper and brass.
