In my most recent series of works, I aim to express the presence and spirit of nature as well as expressing man’s spiritual feeling of both connectedness to all things in nature and his vulnerability to natural forces beyond his control.

In 2010, I started a new series of bronze castings which I call Free Pour Bronzes. Free Pour Bronzes are creations formed by bronze that is freely poured without any mold. What results is a shimmering, organic lacework of bronze, which I use to develop compositions with figures, animals and combinations of both. The subject matter includes compositions of animals, humans interacting with each other, humans interacting with animals, human dealing with the cycle of life as well as the forces of nature. These subjects are all part of the cycle of life that spans from birth to death just as the universe includes the birth and death of stars and planets. nmore

How was I motivated and inspired to move towards this style and method of producing bronzes? The traditional process of lost wax bronze casting is a very costly, slow and laborintensive process that involves many steps, which can take months from start to finish. This process I developed of free-poured bronze casting is not only more cost-effective, fast and more direct, but it is also more conducive to improvisation and spontaneous creativity. It is a process that is very freeing and one that inspires me to discover intriguing combinations of forms others might dismiss as scraps. This style of working is highly inventive and playful.
