These sculptures honoring the common laborer and worker also suggest the theme of the search for balance in our lives. Many of the workers assembled in these compositions, precariously hang off girders, balance on top of pipes being swung into place or perch atop phone poles. The illusion of safety is brought to mind as well as the danger they face everyday.
People struggle throughout the many stages of their lives to attain a balance a balance between work and play, between idealism and practicality, between creative acts and routine rituals. To some of us, balance comes easier than to others, who have to work harder to find it. Nevertheless, the search for balance is a lifelong quest.
It is this very quest of balance that I celebrate in my sculptures. To me, these men represent the balance and grace of a job well done. They also represent the daily courage that we all manifest in our routine, ordeals of journeying to work and the long hours sacrificed for our livelihood and our families.
This work also honors the building industries of America. I welcome the opportunity to enrich the lobby of corporate headquarters, the board room or your home with a custom designed bronze sculpture which will celebrate the creative work of these trades
